I did this all the time in Windows 7/XP. it was one of the first things i did in Windows Classic theme.

i tried doing it in Windows 11 and it didn't work.

i did a regedit, from a search for the topic. when i changed the rgb value nothing happened. i thought maybe i was editing the wrong value so i changed the hilite color in w7 and took note of what value had changed.

it was indeed the "hilite" value., but in w11 it remains the default, which is this pastey transparent blue i can barely see - that's why i wanted to change the color,,,,but nothing changed

am i missing something? thx

Restart computer after change?
did.
i'm beginning to think the thing i want i'm searching for the wrong thing

the color i want to change is like when i select a file /folder on the desktop. that's the color i want to change. right now it's so light i can barely see it. like in xp or w7 classic i could change the color for "selected items" and the "font color" BOTH so i could see what i was choosing
