Hey,

I've swapped out the hard drive in my laptop for an SSD. The SSD has windows 10 and is working properly but everytime I boot the laptop, it says there is not boot device installed. Is this a feature by Toshiba to stop customers changing hardware to third party storage devices or am I missing a key feature in BIOS. Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks,
Tom

You can try going into BIOS and seeing if the primary boot device is Windows Boot Manager. If not, set it to that and see if the issue persists at subsequent bootups. You didn't mention the model of your Toshiba laptop, but I must ask if your laptop BIOS is up to date? I would also like to ask how you installed Windows 10 onto your mobile computing device.

Im using bios version InsydeH20 Rev 3.7. The main boot device is 1. HDD/SSD

I installed the SSD into my desktop and installed it via the windows 10 ISO

So just to confirm. You originally stated "I've swapped out the hard drive in my laptop for an SSD. The SSD has windows 10 and is working properly but everytime I boot the laptop, it says there is not boot device installed.". How can the SSD be "working properly" if you can't boot to the OS? The system is dysfunctional, is it not?

Have I misunderstood you?
