Hi guys,

Firstly, I like to start off by saying that I'm a Japanese (this has a lot to do with this problem) living in the UK.
I have a 4-year old flash-drive sony walkman (still working) that I bought in Japan. In order to import files from the PC, I NEED (it's not drag and drop, like the modern models unfortunately) to use a program called sonic stage CP. I recently installed Windows 7 on my PC, ONLY TO REALISE THAT SONIC STAGE CP DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 7....
However, there is a program called X-apuri available from Japan's sony site:

http://www.sony.jp/support/pa_common/x-appli/download/

So I try installing it, however I get the error message below:

cannot install with this windows language (error code:51ff)

Apparently according to the SONY support page, the program doesnt support "Foreign" Windows OS (basically can only support Japanese OS).
I currently have Win7 HP which I bought in UK, which explains the problem...

So does anyone know how to change the windows language to Japanese, so I can install this application?
Or does anyone know how to install a program which is incompatible with the laguage installed on the OS?

Thanks.

My understanding is that you need Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate to change the display language. If you have one of those editions, here's how you do it:

-> Go into Control Panel -> Region and Language
-> Select the "Keyboards and Languages" tab
-> Click the "Install/uninstall languages..." button to install the Japanese display language.

Once that's done, you can change the Keyboard and Display languages to Japanese (you can use the Japanese IME to enter Japanese characters using romaji if you don't have an actual Japanese keyboard). You may also have to set the "Location" tab to show that you're in Japan (you could try doing just this first to see if it works).

That's probably the closest you can come in a non-Japanese version of Windows 7, but it still might not work depending on how the program determines the language edition.

Hi May1, here is the solution for your problem. I've found it on some Japanese site, I have tried it because I had the same issue as yours and it worked.

5.先頭から13行目あたりの「supportoslang =Japanese」を該当OSに変更&保存する。
 ※例)英語OSであれば「supportoslang =English」に変更して保存する。
6.展開ファイルの中のSetupSSV.exeを実行する。

Hi. I have the same problem as May 1 but am not familiar with Japanese. the solution above doesn't mean much to me! I have Windows 7 Home Edition. Could you perhaps explain a bit more please how to implement this?

Thanks!
