I recently brought some Panasonic Eneloop batteries and i need a charger for them. there is an old Sony BCG-34HRMF charger and it stated that it's suitable for Ni-MH batteries, but since i brought this charger many years ago i'm kind of worried that it's gonna somehow damage Eneloop batteries or reduce their life span drastically?

Any smart charger for NiMh should be fine, cheapo timer based ones will also work but there's no way to ensure they fully charge the battery or don't overhcharge it so they are not great. Googling that charger I'm not really sure, it doesn't mention -dV or dT which are the methods used to detect a full charge on better chargers. Unless you can find some full specs of the charger I would be wary of it long term.

I would suggest a Smart Panasonic charger if you don`t need the extra info a battery Analyzer can give. Otherwise if you really want to get to know your eneloops buy something like a SkyRC NC2600, Powerex MH C9000, Opus BT C700. They can help you understand your batteries better.

Take a look at the Panasonic BQ-CC55 especially if you have new batteries. If you also have older batteries take a look at the BQ-CC17 or BQ-CC16.

I used to use a BC700 which was good enough. Maybe just my copy but the buttons where not very responsive, after about 2-3 years use it died on me. The buttons were not responding anymore at all.

Other budget options are the Opus BT C700 and Littokala. lii 500
