I do know how many times you can charge a Wand of Wishing. But I
thought it was an exception to the general rule.

Now, after long preparing a polypiling session, I needed to charge
my magic markers in order to write more charging scrolls for my
/oPoly and for the markers themselves. I read my only ?oCharging,
tried to charge my blessed MM (1:4), and got "nothing happens".

Can magic markers only be recharged once?

Is that the usual thing with other items that can be charged?

Yes.
