I'm not sure how long to wait before I declare a post singularitied, but
Number Ten Ox as yet doesn't seem to have attracted any attention, so.

I want him to be a bare-handed fighter, but by Brawl, not by using Martial
Arts. With the Charms and Combos below, is this viable? The Blazing Fists
of Slumber combo works (I think - if anyone sees a flaw, please let me know)
like this: Thunderclap Rush Attack ro beat the enemy's initiative, extra
attacks equal to his Essence of 4 from HoI technique, the extra successes of
each attack are counted twice for the purposes of damage, and Ox-Stunning
Blow does (1 die per mote spent on OSB + twice the extra successes on the
attack) of stunning damage each attack. Seven Shadow Evasion is there in
case they have some trick he didn't see coming. The Armour of Rage combo
increases his soak by 5/5 and recharges his Essence at the same time.

Does anyone have other ideas for an effective brawler?

Brawl - Ferocious Jab, Fists of Iron Technique, Thunderclap Rush Attack,
Hammer On Iron Technique, Ox-Stunning Blow, Dragon Coil Technique
Dodge - Reed in the Wind, Seven Shadow Evasion, Shadow Over Water
Endurance - Essence-Gathering Temper, Ox-Body Technique (5 times),
Willpower-Enhancing Spirit
Resistance: Durability of Oak Meditation, Iron Kettle Body, Adamant Skin
Technique, Iron Skin Concentration, Spirit Strengthens the Skin, Unfailing
Tortoise Technique

Combos - Blazing Fists of Slumber (Ferocious Jab, Hammer on Iron Technique,
Ox-Stunning Blow, Seven Shadow Evasion, Thunderclap Rush Attack; Armour of
Rage (Essence-Gathering Temper, Iron Kettle Body)

Cheers,
Grant

If you don't see much response to this, it may be because people don't
spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to make an effective brawler.

Thing about Exalted is it's not a superheroes game, which is to say, not
all shticks are balanced against each other. In, say, Champions, you
can build a guy with claws who's combat balanced against a guy who
shoots lasers out of his eyes. Not so in Exalted. You can't expect a
brawler to really stand up to a serious meleeist or martial artist.
Brawl is the poor & lazy man's fighting art -- if he weren't poor, a
brawler could afford a decent weapon, and if he weren't lazy, he could
spend a couple of years in a monastary dedicating himself to learning
martial arts. Brawl has two main advantages -- it can't be taken away
from you, and it doesn't require a complicated background to justify
knowing it. Anyone can learn to hit people until they fall down. Its
tradeoff is that brawlers aren't really competitive compared to the
other two non-ranged fighting abilities.

So if you mean "effective against mortals, extras, assorted beastmen,
and monsters," I think you're fine. If you mean "effective against the
guy with the six foot razor-edged surfboard," you may be out of luck.
