Charter drops randomly

So this has been a constant problem since Charter Spectrum came out.
My Internet keeps dropping randomly. I've also gained an incredibly high ping for games that have always played smoothly. Both our router and modem are fairly new. My ISP of course is Charter wireless internet with a (supposed to be) download speed of 30mbps and an upload speed of 5mbps. After doing a speed test, its currently at 20mbps and 4.6mbps which is normal for me.

Now the problem is the constant random drops. At random times the internet will completely drop. My computer will still be connected to the belkin router but we have no access to internet from times that range from 1-5 mins to an entire 5 hours. This seems to be a common problem with charter. Their customer service is also complete garbage so i really don't want to deal with them until i really need to.

Now i don't have alot of knowledge with networking. So if you have any knowledge and can help with this problem please either link a guide or do a simple explanation.

Thanks!

Solution
I recently had the same problem.

First, do a complete reset: unplug your router and modem after your computers are turned off. Plug in your modem and allow it to completely start up. After it is working, then do the same thing with your router. Proceed to check your wifi connection on your computers.

Try updating your router's firmware and then if that doesn't work, change the channel that the network is broadcasting on. 1,6,11 are the typical ones that most wireless networks broadcast on.

This link will help you figure out what channel you are broadcasting on.

If you find that multiple networks around you are broadcasting on the same channel, it could cause the drops. For me doing these two things solved my issues with Charter dropping out.

Solution
So went into our Modem and looked at the Logs. (The modem is a Motorola)

So ive changed the channel. I wont know if it has any effect until it drops again.

Best of luck to you!

So after doing what was suggested I was able to get a completely stable internet connection! This also helped with the incredibly high ping. So far today I have had no drops. (Which is a record for me)
Thanks for the help!!!
