Chassis Fan Stops PC Booting

I have just bought a new fan for my pc, however when I plug it into a 3 pin on the motherboard my pc cannot boot, pressing the power button does nothing. However, when I take the fan out the pc automatically boots.

Is this a faulty fan?

could be the fan thats faulty or could be the fan header

without a spare header to double check its hard to tell

got a friend with a pc you could test it in?

or if you got the fan from a shop not off the internet take it back

if you got it off the net you got return postage and waiting time etc if you rma it

Just put it in the cpu header, works fine
