Cheap CPU configuration for working on Autodesk Maya and playing new high end graphics games.

I am about to launch a startup for which I am learning 3D Animation and for that I will be using Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, Aftereffects and render some high end stuff I am also a gamer and I will be playing games like FIFA 2016, Crysis 3 and GTA V. My budget is 40-50k indian rupees or 630$-780$.

I have worked on aftereffects and it took around 5-6 hours to render a 1 minute video on my current config. I have core i3 3rd gen and some low end Nvdia Graphics card (the cheapest one I could find at that time) and 4 GB ram. Now I want to do this stuff for a serious purpose and for that I will need to get hands on a strong config.

I am starting from scratch and honestly I don't know anything about the graphics cards and the PSUs and processor. If you could suggest me a complete config that would be really very helpful. I will build anything that you guys will tell me.

What is your goal, i.e., how much faster do you need to render a 1 minute video? What i3 and GPU do you have? https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/system-requirements.html Adobe recommend 8GB of memory and a good GPU. 50K INR isn't much to build a good PC for rendering and GTA V.

50k definitely does restrict the choice but i am sure we can manage. First and foremost you gotta decide between intel and amd for your chipset. Rendering usually taxes your cpu more than gpu and in your budget we definitely cannot go for a quadro or firepro. I mean the gtx or the Hd series will offer better in the smaller budget range. Decide on the cpu. - AMD/Intel and we will move on from there. Gpu i would recommed a 750ti oc good even cheaper now that the 950 is coming out. Ram - 8gb is good we can manage. PSU, HDD, Mobo, - Depends on your processor. Well mobo mainly depends the rest we can adjust. If you have prior experience building a pc then i recommend you try these websites and order your parts. After you decide of course

If you can salvage anything from your old pc even better. If not lets try, Also if you have a build in mind please post it. It will be easier to edit than create a new one

I want to render a minute video under half an hour or even less than that. I was just giving you a hint of what I was doing, now I am not using that CPU so I don't remember the CPU config.

I can go for a config under 50K and then after some earning some bucks I can upgrade the device. If the startup does not work out then what would be the point of creating such a heavy machine.


For GTA V, I can go for a little less FPS.


I will be using HD displays rarely. I will be using it on a small desktop screen as I am low on budget. So recommend Graphics Card good at low resolution.

Doing it 6 times faster requires a relatively powerful CPU, but it's somewhat difficult if you don't know which i3 you used. Let's presume it was a dual core i3-3210. A Xeon E3-1231 v3 or an overclocked FX-8350 would be much faster, but probably too expensive. Given your limited budget, what's more important for now? Rendering or gaming?

I did a little research. I came up with the following configuration it's going over the budget so tell me where I can cut down.

Processor- AMD FX 9590 Eight Core - 21400 INR/333.81$
Graphics Card- Zotac Nvidia Geforce Gtx 960 2 Gb Ddr5 Graphics Card - 16320INR/254.57$
2x RAM - Kingston Hyperx Fury 8GB- 3500 INR - 7000INR/109.19$
MOBO- Gigabyte GA78LMT (Cheapest AM3+ Mobo I could find) - 4319 INR/67.37$

After all this I am left with a thousand rupees or 16$ in which I can't buy Cabinet, PSU.



I am not going to buy a CD/DVD drive we can cut that out. Cheap Cabinets can work out. I don't know anything about PSUs and I have Seagate 500 GB hard disk which I can use for a couple of months and then upgrade it to 1 TB so recommend good cheap hard disk. USB 3.0 WD external hard disk is available at a very cheap price should I go for that or internal hard disks are much faster?

The selected motherboard absolutely can't support that 220W CPU (I wouldn't even use it with any 8 core FX CPU). You need a very good full ATX motherboard to run that CPU which it isn't a good buy anyway. Unless your room is too cold, you don't need a 220W CPU in India.

AMD configuration:
- FX-8320 with a good cooler to overclock it once you can afford it (the Fx-8370E may also be a good option)
- Asus M5A97 R2.0 (good enough for a slighly overclocked FX-8320)

Intel configuration:
- i5-4440 (faster in games than the FX-8320, but a bit slower when rendering); you could start with an i3-4150 and eventually upgrade to a Xeon E1231 v3
- Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H (has 4 memory slots which may become useful)

You want a very powerful system, but your budget is rather limited. Personally I'd start with an Intel i3-4150 which will be fine for gaming and upgrade to a better CPU when budget permits if rendering times are not satisfactory.
