I want to build a cheap gaming pc this is what I put together, basically I don't want to spend more than 350 usd but I still want to be able to upgrade later on easily to the intel "i" series cpus, and a better graphics card, also I want it to be micro atx.

1) Motherboard:BIOSTAR H61MH LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI Micro ATX Intel

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138312

2) Cpu: Intel Pentium G620 Sandy Bridge 2.6GHz 2 x 256KB L2 Cache 3MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116399

3) Ram: G.SKILL Value Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model

4) Case: Rosewill R363-M-BK Black Ultra High Gloss Finished MicroATX Computer Case with 400W ATX 2.2 12V Power Supply

5) Video card: HIS IceQ H567Q1GD Radeon HD 5670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161334

6) Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda ST3500413AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148701

Total is around $325 because there is a bundle for the cpu/ram/case/mb, I could take them out but I really haven't seen anything better than this for what I am looking for right now, since the MB has the lga 1155 it seems like a good setup for a year.

I want to be able to play all new games at 1280 x 1024 at medium to high settings and also Elder scrolls sky rim when it comes out.

Thanks for any help.

I would suggest jumping up to an i3-2100 at lease ovver the Pentium G620.

alternately get a AMD Athlon II X3 455 ($83) and an AS Rock 870iCafe motherboard ($70) which beats the pentium at most everything.

I've been working on different configs for the past week or so and still seeing where I can go, however if i keep jumping up here and there eventually I'll have spent way more than my limit. If I save that 50 bucks from the dual core to the i3 now, then next year I will get the i7.

As for the video card- It's so confusing with all the numbers and choices, I've looked at so many reviews and benchmarks it's driving me crazy, however I know I don't want to spend more than $100 on it right now.

Is Amd really better for Cpu?

the AMD triple core is a better deal than the Pentium G620. absolutely

for around $100 you can get a HD6670 ($105), the most powerful card that doesn't need its own power. Its good at 1680x1050 for most games.

Considering he hasn't already bought the system for $100 the GTS 450 is much better than the 6670.

It's not idea to save money for an i7 but if gaming is your main concern the i3-2100 is more than sufficient and you would want to upgrade to an i5 to save costs anyways.

This is what I came up with around 350.
Kept the hard drive and ram.

Just in case anyone else wants to see some benchmarks and testing done with different cpus mentioned above, according to these tests the amd x3 is somewhat better than the dual core sandybridge, but in some tests the intel pulled ahead.

In 2 out of 6 of the games the intel dual core g620 pulled ahead, and in a different 2 out of 6 the intel g620 was barely behind the x3, which leaves 2 gaming test where the x3 had significantly more power.

I feel like I want to go intel, so I'll probably get the i3 or dual core 1155 now, and get the i5 next year.

I'm tempted to buy the Ati hd 5570 for 59.99, it's been on the sub 100 best cards here for a few months, considering my low resolution does anyone think it's good enough for what I want?

What is your low resolution? If it is 720p I think it can hold you off. If you want to go the intel route go ahead, thats what I did. I'm running an i3 2100 with 4gb g.skill ram and a oc geforce 450 and I can play battlefield bad company 2 at 1080p with medium detail and fallout new vegas maxed out at 1080p. If you get the 5570 do you plan on upgrading in the future?

I haven't bought a monitor yet, but I would like a 19", I'm guessing 1280 x 1024 or 1440 x 900. I do plan on upgrading the Gpu in the future, I'm sure the 450 would hold me off longer than the 5570.

For everything with the GTS 450 I'm at $365, and that's including a mouse, arctic silver compound, and a wireless adapter card, for the intel build. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.....

So actually I'm at $333, and if the Zotac rebate came through it would be $303.

I'll be upgrading the Cpu by next summer to the i5, unless I'm surprisingly content with the Dual core.

With how cheap 1080p monitors are, there is no point in getting anything less these days example:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824262011

My two cents would be to go the x3 route for a ~350$ build.

I haven't checked the market for Monitors here so I'm not sure what I will get, I'm American but I live overseas, I'm only coming back for a few months this summer and want to get the computer while I'm there, but don't want to travel with the pc + monitor. I don't really need anything above 22", and If I go up in resolution it only means I need to get a better video card, which means more money and that is what I don't want to do.

So i think the biggest I would want to go is 22", if I needed to sacrifice size for performance I would, However I would like the screen to double as a Tv for xbox 360, so I guess 22" is good.

I'de want a am3+ board that I can easy upgrade later if need be to the bulldozer, which would lead me easily into the $400 range for a total build price.

On the other hand if I stuck with a regular am3 board the furthest I would be able to upgrade to is a Amd II x4 to stay within my budget correct? Can anyone say that these cpus are better than the sandybridges i5 or i7?

Correction:

I'de be able to go up to the Amd Phenom II X6, so with that being said, which is better the AMD phenom II x_/AMD Athlon II x_ or the Sandybridge i_?

well the dual core is Sandybridge (just not an i_), but non the less like I've said I want something that can upgrade within one year.. If the Intel is better, and has better upgrade options that Is what I want to go with to hold me off until I get the i5. If the Amd is better I would go with the x3 until next year and move up to a x4 or x6.
