Hey guys, this is my first time ever building a computer. I'm not wanting to spend too much money, but I want to have decent quality at the same time.

I'm open to any and all advice so please comment!

Approximate Purchase Date: asap because my laptop keeps overheating and giving me battery errors.

Budget Range: 500-600ish

System Usage from Most to Least Important: light gaming, photoshop, browsing the internet.

Parts Not Required: mouse, speakers, monitor.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
i've only looked at newegg but i'm open to anything, really.

Country of Origin: united states

Parts Preferences: none really, i'm open to most anything.

Overclocking: no

SLI or Crossfire: no

Monitor Resolution: i have an old 1440x900 hp.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00916924&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3351967&key=null&site=null

is this any good? im probably going to replace it with something else near the end of the summer.

Additional Comments: i want to keep it as cheap as possible while still having a decent computer for some gaming. like i said earlier, my current laptop is dieing so i want to upgrade it, but don't want to spend a ton of money. i'm on a pc gaming spree right now but i don't know how long it will last, so i don't want to put a ton of money into a graphics card/general performance.

The Parts:

Below each part I wrote my thoughts on each product and the reason why I chose it.

CPU and Case Combo
AMD Phenom II x4 945 + Rosewill Blackbone Steel

-Cheap case and money-saving combo. Includes a decent/good CPU.

Motherboard
MSI 870-G45

-Has everything I need without being too expensive. The other motherboards that had the stuff I wanted had pretty sketchy reviews so I went with this one.

Graphics Card
Galaxy GTS 450 GC Version

-Originally had the AMD 5830, but this is cheaper and still decent.
Not at all fixed on this, I'm totally open to recommendations on this. However, I don't want to spend a lot more money without somehow saving in other areas.

PSU and HDD
Antec High Current Gamer Series + 500 GB WDig HDD

[strike]Power Supply
Antec 550W Continuous Power

-Cheap, has the wattage I need, looks like a straightforward piece.
[/strike]
Memory
G.SKILL DDR3 1333 2 x 2GB

-Not 100% sure this is compatible because it's not on the mobo website but I think it is. Cheapest 1333 with good reviews on NewEgg that I could find.

[strike]Hard Drive
Western Digital 7200 RPM 500 GB

-Cheap, 500 GB should be plenty for my needs.
[/strike]
Keyboard
LITE-ON USB Keyboard

-Cheapest USB keyboard on NewEgg lol

DVD Writer
Asus Black OEM

-Cheap DVD writer with good reviews.
**What does OEM mean? I know it doesn't come with all the cables and stuff, so will I need to buy those seperately? Or do they come with my PSU? And how can I use it without the drivers?

Thank you for any advice or recommendations!

League of Legends, Minecraft, WoW

And once I make my computer I'll probably buy TF2, Rift, and maybe an RTS

Here's a comparison

I am trying to minimize the amount of money I spend, but thank you for your ideas!

Why do you choose that video card over the one that is currently in my build and the one that I posted in a reply?

Very simple answer...It's better and more powerful! If you want to minimize your budget, from my build

a)remove 6870 and add a 6850..Still a very good card more powerful than the ones you choose and save some $$ from there! This is the cheapest with MIR!

XFX HD-685X-ZNDC Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150516&cm_re=6850-_-14-150-516-_-Product

b)choose a cheaper RAM Kit..I think this is the cheapest 4GB 1600MHz kit, comes with MIR

Patriot G Series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGV34G1600ELK
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220436

You will end up at 553$ with MIR!

I'm guessing you can go lower, If you don't need that 1TB Storage but I think for 10-20 bucks 300-500GB are worth!

Hmm I still don't really want to spend that much on a video card. The video card I posted earlier is a little over $50 after MIR, but still has decent performance. Also, I don't need the black edition AMD processor that you chose because I don't plan to overclock.

Ahh, thanks geng, I was wondering why all of my combos disappeared lol.
