Hey guys, this is my first time ever building a computer. I'm not wanting to spend too much money, but I want to have decent quality at the same time.
I'm open to any and all advice so please comment!
Approximate Purchase Date: asap because my laptop keeps overheating and giving me battery errors.
Budget Range: 500-600ish
System Usage from Most to Least Important: light gaming, photoshop, browsing the internet.
Parts Not Required: mouse, speakers, monitor.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: i've only looked at newegg but i'm open to anything, really.
Country of Origin: united states
Parts Preferences: none really, i'm open to most anything.
Overclocking: no
SLI or Crossfire: no
Monitor Resolution: i have an old 1440x900 hp.

is this any good? im probably going to replace it with something else near the end of the summer.
Additional Comments: i want to keep it as cheap as possible while still having a decent computer for some gaming. like i said earlier, my current laptop is dieing so i want to upgrade it, but don't want to spend a ton of money. i'm on a pc gaming spree right now but i don't know how long it will last, so i don't want to put a ton of money into a graphics card/general performance.
The Parts:
Below each part I wrote my thoughts on each product and the reason why I chose it.
CPU and Case Combo
AMD Phenom II x4 945 + Rosewill Blackbone Steel
-Cheap case and money-saving combo. Includes a decent/good CPU.
Motherboard
MSI 870-G45
-Has everything I need without being too expensive. The other motherboards that had the stuff I wanted had pretty sketchy reviews so I went with this one.
Graphics Card
Galaxy GTS 450 GC Version
-Originally had the AMD 5830, but this is cheaper and still decent.
Not at all fixed on this, I'm totally open to recommendations on this. However, I don't want to spend a lot more money without somehow saving in other areas.
PSU and HDD
Antec High Current Gamer Series + 500 GB WDig HDD
[strike]Power Supply
Antec 550W Continuous Power
-Cheap, has the wattage I need, looks like a straightforward piece.
[/strike]
Memory
G.SKILL DDR3 1333 2 x 2GB
-Not 100% sure this is compatible because it's not on the mobo website but I think it is. Cheapest 1333 with good reviews on NewEgg that I could find.
[strike]Hard Drive
Western Digital 7200 RPM 500 GB
-Cheap, 500 GB should be plenty for my needs.
[/strike]
Keyboard
LITE-ON USB Keyboard
-Cheapest USB keyboard on NewEgg lol
DVD Writer
Asus Black OEM
-Cheap DVD writer with good reviews.
**What does OEM mean? I know it doesn't come with all the cables and stuff, so will I need to buy those seperately? Or do they come with my PSU? And how can I use it without the drivers?
Thank you for any advice or recommendations!
