My friend really needs a gpu for his dell optiplex 755 really needs a GPU just so he can run basic games like Garry's Mod, Minecraft, etc. He only has $50 australian to spend on it.
Any links or suggestions?
I'd suggest he save up for a GT730 1GB DDR5. It produces good frame rates and can run a 720P HD TV for a monitor to save some money there. Also overclocks about 20% .
If he gets the 710 and it doesn't do what he wants he's wasted his money. Just my opinion though.
An R5-230 or GT 710 is about the best he can do for AUS$50.
I'd avoid the ones w/o a fan, tho.
Do the 710, I had an r5 230 and it was terrible (not saying the 710 is much better) my friend had a 745 and it preformed pretty nicely so I would assume a gpu of the same generation wouldn't trail to far behind
The Optiplex 755 supports Q9650 which scores 40% of CPUs tested at userbenchmark.com,and the GTX1050Ti scores about that also. So cost is the only reason to buy any of the GPUs discussed here. http://www.userbenchmark.com/System/Dell-OptiPlex-755/3939
Unless overclocked the 745 with it's best CPU scores about 26%. It's 1 generation behind and even supports Pentium4s. So does the E520 in my sig. which scores 44% overclocked.
As stated by the user above "terrible", and "not much better". I would rather spenda little more to avoid that experience.
