So I have been routing around old PC components for about 6 months, ordering and buying old components to try and make something cheap, matx, and considerably apt for gaming. So far, I had been looking into socket 775 cpus. Then god shined a light upon me, and I found an Asus Gene III for $15 on eBay, suspiciously labeled "BRAND NEW". I ordered it and I happen to have two Xeon e5620, one issue. This motherboard is only for a single cpu. I have everything I need to be able to set up this system, except a moderately powerful graphics card. I have my 970, which I would rather not put in the build mainly because it is my best gpu, but I want something that doesn't suck up power. Would a 1050 be alright to use in this system to power games like world of warcraft?

gtx 1050 / 750ti, rx 460 will be just about right for the cpu you have, and most of its models dont need aditional power pin connectors. Guess you already found the guide for modding 775 mbo to fit 771 xeons.

A GTX 1050 would be fine for WoW, you probably could even just save more money and buy a 750ti or a r9 270.
