Hi, I just recently bought an AMD Athlon X4 845 CPU for my Lenovo Erazer X315; to upgrade from my AMD FX 770K. Sadly the AMD Athlon X4 845 isn't compatible with the MOBO in the Lenovo Erazer X315, so I need a new MOBO to get my Athlon X4 845 working. The motherboard needs to be Micro-ATX, and running on either the AMD A78 or AMD A88X chipsets. My price range is between $0 - $50.

Also does anyone know if my AMD Athlon X4 845 is brocken. When I installed it in my Lenovo Erazer X315; the computer would boot, but my monitor screen stayed black and my MOBO never made any post beeps. It'll really suck if I wasted $93.99 on a broken CPU.

here's a list of all the motherboards that support your X4 845 CPU: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/AMD/Athlon_X4/845_motherboards.html

Time to go hunting on eBay.

Did you break your new chip by installing it in the wrong motherboard? I've never made that mistake with this particular combination, but I have with others (I'm always confusing LGA1151 sockets...), and I haven't borked a CPU...yet...the only way to find out is to get a proper motherboard and give it a try. If you were lucky, you might (but probably not) find a computer shop locally that would give you a hand on this.

Thanks for all the help. Turns out my MOBO is compatible. I just received the CPU broken. Anyways I got a refund on the CPU, and bought more RAM for my PC instead. I'm upgrading from 16GB DDR3 1600MHZ to 26GB DDR3 1600MHZ. Also it doesn't matter to much that I don't have my X4 845 anymore. Although the X4 845 is quicker than my FX 770k; it's only faster by roughly 15%. In terms of performance; 15% really, actually, isn't all that much.
