So I would like to build the cheapest possible computer to play Doom. The first Doom, all the way through BFG edition. Plus mods like Brutal Doom and Brutal Doom 64. I ideally want to play it at 1080p. I would also like to play the newest Doom on this pc as well at playable settings with atleast medium settings 720p at a stable 60 FPS.

This is essentially a throw away computer. No im not going to throw the computer away, but it is not something that I want to take with me more than likely. For reasons I shall not specify, I can use my original PC which would play all of this without issue

I would also like it to be as small as possible to take up little space. I actually already have an slim Matx case with a psu. It has a 300w. So these are the parts that I have looked at so far:

GTX 1050 TI Low Profile:

Athlon X4 880k:

MSI mATX motherboard:

This is the basis for the pc right here. I willing to downgrade on the cpu but I would like to keep the gpu, unless someone has another one that would do the job as well, but cheaper. Would 4 GB of ram be enough in the build if I wanted to play Doom 2016? Or should I go with atleast 6?

8GB Ram is actually the minimum for Doom 2016, so i'd say go with at LEAST 8GB ram.
Also, i wouldn't downgrade on that CPU at all. It's just about right for Doom 2016, as long as you keep it at around 4GHz.

Well I was hoping that it would be possible to play below specs. People with below spec cards and cpus have been playing the game. I should know. I built a computer that plays the game like that (however it is in my gfs possession). Its basically a cheaper version of this with an 860k and a standard 1050 with 2 GB of ram. It plays it better than I thought it would. So here to hoping lower cheaper ram would work, but if not I would be willing to go with 8 gb
