Alright folks i have a little surprise for you. Recently my cousin went to best buy and bought a 500$ Compaq Desktop Pc for playing games. He usually plays games on his ps3 but decided to buy a Pc, so he could play games and do some more stuff. He has seen my gaming pc's but he does not know anything about the innards to a real gaming pc, so he thought 500$ was a good choice. Upon inspecting his so called " gaming pc" i realized it was just a run of the mill desktop. (amd x2 @ 2.7ghz, 4gb ram, DVD-rw, built in graphics..etc). Since i know what he got for his money we decided that we would go back to bestbuy return the mediocre machine and built a real gaming pc from scratch; our budget was ~ 500$. So this is what 497$ got us. This setup is still using stock cooler and running e5300 @ 36xx ghz......and prime 95 does not break 58C (small FFT). The processor stepping is R0, i think its new.
Case = antec 900 67$ (on sale @ BB)
CPU = intel e5300 67$ (microcenter)
MB = GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L 50$ (microcenter)
P.Supply = OCZ 550w 44$ (newegg)
Memory = G.skill pc1066 51$ (newegg)
Vid Card = Asus DK 1gb 4870 129$ (newegg)
Hp dvd-rw lightscribe 34$ (bestbuy)
Hdd wd green 500gb 55$ (bestbuy)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Total 497$ (if i am correct)
We assembled the pc tpday and did a bit of overclocking.
see Below
After minimal Effort we got these settings (took us 5 min, they are prime 95 and furmark stable btw)
Some Pics of the assembled Pc
And now the 3dmarl06 score with the Overclocks, mind you this is still running with a stock cooler
Now i think this is a kick ass pc for ~ 500$ but if you guys have any suggestions, ideas, or comments let me know....
thanks
