Cheap processor that supports DDR3 RAM (60 or less budget for a processor)

I really need a cheap processor that is "good" that won't bottleneck a GTX 1050 Ti, and I really want it to support DDR3 Ram as I got 2x4 gig sticks lying around. I would like to spend $60 or less on a processor.

look for something like THIS. I just gave my grandmother my old computer with this very board and an i5 3570K. If I had not upgraded, I'd still be using it as it had plenty of power left in it for gaming (was paired with a GTX 1060 that I transplanted into the new build)

Add your ram to it, add a better PSU, and a better graphics card and you have a budget gaming box. You might even be able to get away with a 1050ti without upgrading the power supply.

I would say the i5's aren't bad, but they are only comparable to this gen ryzen 3 or i3. The i7 CPUs would last you longer depending how long it will be before you upgrade again.

Yeah, I need everything (case PSU etc). Since this is my first build, if I go with the Optiplex solution, I'll be adding my own PSU, just in case because I want to be very careful not to destroy my PC. Also, I am going for a 1050 Ti, and do you think I will have to mod the Optiplex case if I want to fit a GPU?

I think an i5 would be sufficient for a duration, as I will be looking at 1 - 4 years in use for it (hence why I'm not going all out on the build).

Does your 1050ti have a single fan or 2 fans? If single fan I don't think you'd have an issue.

Yeah, I'm looking to play some demanding games such as F1 2017 and GTA V. Since the baseline i5 3570 has no OC abilities, its lifespan will be stretched.

Thanks, and yeah it would suck to have to go out and purchase and install windows since its much easier just to get a refurbished one w/ windows installed. So, if I go the refurb route, I should go for an i7 machine?

You could go i5, but I think for the most longevity, the i7 will be the safest bet. If you can get an ivy bridge or haswell system that would be better, but 200 for Sandy bridge shouldn't be terrible.

Skip to the gaming benchmarks. You'll see the i5-3570(K) offers the same, similar, or better performance as the i7-2600(K) paired with a GTX 1080 Ti. So if you're budget oriented the i5 makes more sense.

Tbh, that surprises me a little.

i3 has always been a good low-mid range gaming CPU for the cost. Now the 8th-gen i3 hangs with the high-end because it's basically a 7th-gen i5.

*AFAIK the 2nd and 3rd-gen K series are the same as the non-K models when not overclocked.

Yeah, I see a bunch of Optiplex systems going pretty cheap with i7 2600's which are decent for gaming w/ a 1050 ti. It honestly will depend on what I can find cheaper when I come to buying the parts (around late June). Tbh, I really don't want to go through the process of having to install an OS since of my lack of experience, and on top of that i7 2600's are going for 100 + on ebay if I were to build the system from scratch. Right now, I'm looking to keep the PC as long until the mining apocalypse has ended, and prices are normal (if that ever happens).

Installing the os is very easy. Usually when we get brand new Dell systems at work, I format them almost as soon as they come out of the box just to make sure I've got a nice clean system to start out.
