Cheap reliable 240gb SSD?

I was planning to buy the SanDisk Ultra II 240GB (SDSSDHII-240G-G25) based on the tech deals review that I just watched. I would like to ask your opinion about SanDisk drives in general as I've only used Seagate and Western Digital before.

I don't know about specific brands but you can have cheap or you can have reliable.

SLC is the most reliable and most expensive. One bit per cell.

MLC is middle of the road. Two bits per cell.

TLC is the least reliable and the cheapest. Three bits per cell.

Well SanDisk is actually now Western Digital. So these two units are basically the new version of that SanDisk

Most of the name brand SSD's are good quality. They generally use the same flash memory manufacturer's, Toshiba, Micron and Samsung. The main difference is performance, due to the controller chip and firmware. Since you're look at cheaper SSDs, this really isn't an issue. An SSD as you're main drive will be a whole lot faster than any HDD. The Sandisk Ultra II will be a good general SSD for you.

You may pay a bit more, but Samsung 240gb EVO is hard to beat for performance and reliability7.

I have a Sandisk Ultra II 960GB.
A little over a year, no issues. Runs just as fast as the other SSD's in the house.

You may be just lucky.
I checked newegg reviews for 0 eggs.
I found your 960gb unit with 31% 0 eggs; a cursory look said failures.
The 240gb unit was better at 15%

The Samsung evo units were half that rate. 7% for 240gb, 9% for 1tb.
Anything can fail, and you are more likely to get negative or failed reviews than from those who are satisfied.
All sata ssd devices perform comparably. They may differ in sequential performance, but that is not what is important in a ssd.

Oh yeah...I was just replying to the initial question re: Sandisk.

Buying today, a Samsung 850 EVO or Crucial MX300.
I just got a really good deal on that Sandisk last year.
