Hello everyone! :)

I need a CHEAP video card to drive a 4K UHD TV to use it as a video monitor for PC, NO GAMING at all!
The cheapest the best... I see and I am reading other posts about this but they are a little old and maybe the chances, prices and the know-how are changed so I ask again here. I also have a peculiar system (Linux).

I have an i7-3770 (LGA 1155) on a motherboad Asus P8H67-M REV 3.0 (B3) and 16 GB DDR3 RAM
My OS is Linux Mint 17 Qiana, X-Cinnamon (Ubuntu derived)

I understood that to drive a 4k@60Hz chroma 4:4:4 (needed to read the text well) I need:

- HDMI 2.0 video output
- OR a DP 1.2 (Display Port) + active adapter DP --> HDMI.

1) my first question is which of the two methods should I prefer, thinking that I use Linux?!
I think that the DP --> HDMI adapter can bring more problems because it needs peculiar drivers for DP and for the adapter or isn't it a problem?!
Anyway I would prefer the HDMI 2.0 directly (a defect in the adapter could leave me without the monitor in the future)

2) which is the cheaper (no gaming) video card available for this use?!

It must be compatible with the motherboad Asus P8H67-M REV 3.0 (B3) and working with Linux Mint 17 Qiana, X-Cinnamon (Ubuntu derived)
At the link below MB specifications are listed, I see it has 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue) and 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

Motherboard Asus P8H67 specifications

I understand this is a difficult question, I hope you can help me! :)

Thank you everyone for your ideas! :)

PS: I use Linux but I am not an expert about it (1 year of simple user experience)

EDIT: I found a used (in warranty) ASUS GEFORCE GTX950 2GB DDR5 PCI-EXPRESS 3.0.
I think it should be ok for the 4K by HDMI 2.0 but I was thinking if it will be compatible with Linux Mint and with my motherboard that is a PCIe 2.0.

Is there something cheaper (this used one costs about 130 euro) to look for?!
The one I found is this one, it seems to be a gaming card:

ASUS strix
