Cheap vs expensive mobo? Mobo on the budget

Hi guys, I have a few, maybe stupid, questions.

Last year, I purchased Gigabyte GTX 670 factory OCed gpu.

Since then I collected money to buy new CPU. I saw i5-4670K and I really liked it, but I have a small problem: I don't have enough money to get new CPU and a high end mobo.

I do not plan to go SLI or more than 2 sticks of 4GB RAM @ 1600 MHZ (side question: do I need more RAM/frequency and why?) or more than 2 Hard drives (one ssd and one storage) etc.

So, I will use my computer for gaming and some programming, but not like pro rendering on anything like that. I use single 1080p 2D monitor, and that won't change any time soon.

So, finally, my question is: with my needs, and budget, should I really go for "high end" mobo? What's the point of it actually, all difference I see is size (which I don't really have problem with since I have HAF 912+ case), number of slots for GPU/RAM, as well as RAM frequency and number of SATA 2/3 slots. I think I don't need any of that, so IMO, its not worth the money. I wanted to ask people that know this better than me for opinion and advice.

Of course, I don't want to skip bios and overclocking. But since I'm taking rather good components (I think), I don't think I'll necessarily need to overclock any time soon.

Thanks for reading, any help or advice is appreciated.

last board I purchased was under $100.......... fast processor and fast graphics card will make your experience more pleasurable than mediocre cpu/gpu because you thought you needed a $200 board.

most of my boards are under $100 anymore......... unless I have specific needs that dictate anything the more expensive ones have.

Actually the boards I saw are half the price of yours ^^

The board you recommended is http://emmi.rs/mati%C4%8Dne-plo%C4%8De-%28mb%29-mb-lga1150-z87-gigabyte-ga-z87m-d3h.11.html?productId=34993 (almost 11.000)

My question is: What does the board you recommended have than those 50% cheaper don't? Thanks :)

The cheaper boards do not have a Z87 chipset.
The Z87 chipset is required for you to be able to overclock the 4670K.
That will allow you perhaps 20% better performance.

If you do not wish to overclock, a 4670 would be cheaper, then a B85 based motherboard would be OK.

Oh, alright, now I understand. Thank you very much for taking your time to explain things to me. I'll buy the board you recommended me (GA-Z87M-D3H).

You can mark this thread as solved.
