cheaper 7970 vs r9 280x

Is there any reason to take a r9 280x over the on sale 7970's this holiday season. I have heard and read the r9 280x is just a rebranded 7970 but need to confirm there is no other difference.

i5 3570k
z77-g45
1000w bronze coolermaster psu
windows 7 64 bit
currently a 560 ti 2gb

If the HD 7970 is on sale, then buy it. It comes with 3 free games too, which if they appeal to you, then you got a great card (which is also a great overclocker) and three free games.

The R9 280X is newer tech and slightly faster (5%).
