cheaper alternative to the Evga geforce gtx 980 ti

I'm building a new PC and a dual Evga geforce gtx 980 ti was recommended for a three moniter build, but I'm trying to bring the cost down and I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative to dual Evga geforce gtx 980 ti?

Are you really running super high resolutions or something? We need more information. You definitely don't need a GTX 980 Ti to *run* 3 monitors.

I would like to run games @ max settings across all three moniter at 1080p and 60 fps without any drops in fps if possible

if you can, go for a single 980ti or dual r9 390/390x's

Also would it matter that the 970 is a 4gb while the 980 is 6gb? Would there be much of a difference noticed during gameplay if using 4gb vs 6gb?

the performance difference between the gtx 970 and 980Ti is a large jump, the more vram will help with multiple monitors which you would probably be hitting close or above the 4gb limit(idk about 3 monitors)
