Hi guys,

I'm trying to find the cheapest card that outputs to a 4k TV @60hz using an hdmi 2.0 port.

Ideally I want to avoid any adaptors etc as I've got the hdmi cable already.

Thanks!

I read that as play games and steam video of those games, not just video as in movies and such.

Here are the HDMI 2 cards on Newegg sorted by price http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20601107673&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=30 Any of those will handle playing video at 4k.
Gtx 980ti can do 4k but at 60hz only some games like garry's mod. But battlefiled 4 can maybe get above 45 fps but only on high.

They only way to get buttery smooth 4k at 60HZ is by doing sli/crossfire with a gtx 970/r9 290x or a r9 295x2. so its gonna be pricey.

If you can go down to 1440p a gtx 980 ti will do almost every game at or above 60HZ.

While i actually do have a 980ti, it's in a different room :)

What I need from this card is to be calable of playing and streaming video at 4k /60hz, via hdmi 2.0. Basically the cheapest one that fits that category. Surely the 980ti isn't the cheapest option?

For playing at 4k in playable frame rates, nothing short of a 980 Ti is will really do that. In fact, for smooth 4k play at decent settings, you would want dual 980 Ti cards.

Going by the more demanding games, a GTX 970, Radeon 290X or 390X can handle 4K at Medium settings decently, at about 30-40 fps.

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify, I don't need to be able to play games - only play and stream video (I intend to use the steam inter-room streaming thing), hence the cheapness criterion.

Before the Gtx 1080 and 1070, yes the 980ti is the cheapest compared to the other cards such as the Titans or R9 fury X. But now that the 1080 and 1070 are here they are a much better choice.
