There is the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vrckzy
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vrckzy/by_merchant/

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $104.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I would get a more expensive motherboard for overclocking, like the ASRock Z97 EXTREME6 motherboard. Choosing a motherboard also depends on how much overclocking you are going to do.

What part of the world?

Cheap = cruddy overclocking, especially with that chip.

Acceptable boards start at about US$100. Cruddy boards go down to the MSI Z97 MATE at $70, which I would not recommend.

If you give up overclocking and get a H97 board there are many cheap boards $60 or less.

At $100, the ASrock Extreme 4 is OK, but the MSI board would be the SLI Krait.

The MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard would be the better option because of the Z97 chipset. It has more graphics and CPU overclocking support.

-MystoPigz

As mentioned above. You can overclock on the Krait. The H97 is not supported by Intel for overclocking, so there really is not choice if you want to overclock.

Next question. Why the 4790K? if you go with something locked and slightly slower, and a lot cheaper, like the Xeon 1231v3 I use, or an overclockable i5 4690K.......?????

As far as I know, modded Minecraft doesn´t have very big requirements and only use 2 cores.
You´d be better of going for a cheap i3/i5 core, and a decent video card. That´ll translate into more FPS than an expensive overclocked i7 chip.

Minecraft utilize 1 core, and with optifine-mod 2 cores.

i5 quadcore is more than enough. You should look for a decent graphics card instead. Not only will it translate into a better performance in Minecraft, but in other games as well.

Minecrafts (not minimum) recommended specs is:

Recommended Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Athlon II (K10) 2.8 GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: GeForce 2xx Series or AMD Radeon HD 5xxx Series (Excluding Integrated Chipsets) with OpenGL 3.3
HDD: 1GB
Latest release of Java 8 from java.com

If you want a really good pc for minecraft (and newer games) I would personally recommend something like:
CPU: Intel Core i5 (any is fine, k-series chip ONLY for overclocking)
RAM: 8GB 1600+ Mhz with cas latency 9, 10 or 11
GPU: GeForce GTX 950 or higher
Storage Drive: SSD or Hybrid

If you choose to overclock, then you need a cpu cooler, CM Hyper 212 Evo i.e, for $25

It will be the same unless you overclock. But I´d like you too realize, that performance gain in a i5 4460 vs a more expensive i5 4790k may be negliable in gaming, and mostly the graphics card will provide the biggest boost.

gtx 960 4gb is a good card, that will run minecraft well. However to the poor design of minecraft, it´s hard to reach those úber fps without some additional tweaking, that has more to do with game settings, windows and other software, rather than your hardware.

It´s not worth the extra money. I am sorry if I weren´t clear.

Go for i5 core.

Get a cheaper one with a LGA1150 socket, i.e. Gigabyte GA-H81M-H for $29.99
Use the savings on CPU and motherboard to get a GeForce GTX 970 like Asus TURBO-GTX970-OC-4GD5 for $308.99

Then you have a pc that will practically run all newer games in high/ultra 1080p.

Then you can do fine with a GTX 750 TI ($90)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121855&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
Remember the $30.00 rebate card, you just print from the same webpage.

That card will run Minecraft modded, without any hiccups.

As for CPU, you can get the k-series for same price as the non-k-series.
So you might as well get the k-chip and overclock it to 4.3-4.5 Ghz. Just remember a CPU cooler. See below

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $359.96

That´s an excellent card, but why pay $120 dollars more for a card that is overkill for Minecraft?

Even 750TI is overkill for Minecraft (modded or not) - but its way cheaper.

Minecraft recommends GeForce 2xx Series (10th generation) that´s 5 years older than nVidia GTX 750TI.
