Hey!
I'm looking for a cheapish graphics card that can handle 4k - It's not for gaming - I only want to hook my PC up to a 4k TV - I'm at a bit of a loss, I'm not worried if it's Nvidia or AMD. Any advice would be great - My budget is up to £150.
Thanks

If you just want to run your PC, no gaming, a GT 1030 should do. I don't know what kind of performance you're looking for but you should at least be able to browse the internet and such. If you want to spend the full 150, you can get a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti. There's also the AMD RX 460 which is a little less than the 1050 for a little less performance. But I really don't know what you need.

I would say for balance purposes a GTX 1050 should do the trick. Will definitely simply run the PC at 4k, and isn't so powerful that it costs a lot. Around 110. Better price-to-performance than the 1050 Ti (around 140-150).

But even a GT 1030 (about 60) should run it at 4k. You could always try it and if it doesn't meet your needs you can just return it and upgrade to a 1050. But price to performance on a 1050 is a bit better.

1050 is about 80% more powerful than the 1030 and only costs 40-50 more. Up to you.

Hi
It's just for browsing, YouTube and playing local videos - I'll also install a TV card in the PC to watch TV at the same time - I don't use the PC for gaming.
Cheers

Hi
I was gravitating to the 1050Ti or the 460 - but the 460's are hard to find at the moment.
Cheers

YouTube videos will mostly use the CPU, so any GPU that supports 4k will do. I'm not sure about TV, but there are HTML5 videos that use the GPU, with those you may be at a disadvantage, but I don't know enough about it to say for sure. But I would say a 1030 should suffice. If you are worried about it you could just spend the extra 45ish and get a 1050. I would say you don't need more than that for what you want to do. But I think a 1030 should be fine.

Thanks fella
I was leaning towards the 1050Ti OC but wanted to check - thanks for your help

Yeah you wouldn't need that much just for YouTube. Like I said in the edited posts (which you should re-read) The only time you would need a GPU for anything is if you were watching something with HTML5, which does use the GPU to render the graphics. But for YouTube I know for sure, it's mostly the CPU. I am pretty sure even streaming shows like on Netflix or Hulu that is the CPU as well. So again, a 1030 should suffice.
