Probably a bunch of them have viruses, most newer games have anti cheat software and if your caught one of 2 things. Your account gets banned or your banned permanently by your IP.

Edit I remember when DayZ came out a lot of people were using them that would show other players location on the map that got your account banned and then you needed to buy the game again. Big stink over that because of false positives. Then they came out with one that you could use a pistol and one shot somebody anywhere on the map think you got the permanent ban for that.

Typically such topics are not discussed here. But as this is pretty vague it seems alright.

It is quite common for cheating tools and applications to have backdoors, netbots, mining bots, and all kinds of malicious code in them. Basically installing your own trojan and paying them for the privilege. Another thing to consider with any paid service or one time purchase. Unless you do it in a secure way, they also have your payment information/personal details they can then sell on to third parties. So while the cheating tool may be benign, you might start getting additional unwanted spam.

Not so long ago I figured it's possible to cheat in movies. Yes movies, like those you go to see at cinemas. Ok, the trick is to go to youtube or some similar content provider, and search for "movie recap" (as an example). Heck - it now takes like 14 minutes instead of one and a half hour, and still being able to talk about the movie at work the next day. Nobody could tell I haven't seen the full length of it. Nice thing when being too busy to view movies.

The program works on an exe file or often the ram being used by the program. No risk to the PC itself but any changes to an exe file can obviously make it in usable. And messing with the ram in use can also crash the game if your not careful

Your biggest concern as noted is being banned in multi player games or getting a bad tool that comes with it's own malware included.
