Brands, brands, brands. Can't make an opinion about generic equipment. Who's ram? Who's DVD? Who's hard drive? Specs mean nothing, the brand name will tell us everything.

You'd be happier with a SCSI CDRW. Because of the low transfer rate required, an inexpensive SCSI card would do for that. Plus you can use SCSI with a scanner, should you choose to get one, with much better performance than USB.

WHOA!! You spent $1259 for your processor??? LOL!
I spent $150 on my 1ghz 266 @ 1.5ghz.

Hmmm...$0 for your OS--does that mean its a copy??!!

Your Mouse moved. WINDOWS NT must restart for changes to take effect. Restart Now? [OK]

I am building a system that is similar and yet 400 dollars cheaper. Don't forget to add shipping (and maybe taxes) to your order (gateway is almost in all 50 states). You might like to build it yourself.

Mine is about 1350 (includes shipping and mostly retail products)(I didn't buya new monitor or office software)

Aopen Full Tower 300 watt
AMD 1.4ghz retail CPU
Motherboard: Assus retail a7a266
Ram: 512meg (2x256meg sticks) DRR CAS 2.5 - Crucial
IBM retail Deskstar 40gig 7200rpm 60GX
Video retail: Leadtek GeForce2 Ultra 64meg
Sound retail: Philips Acoustic Edge 5.1
Windows 98SE
retail CD-RW Plextor 16-10-40
retail CD-ROM Asus 52X
4-Sensor Thermal Bay display
1-120mm fan, 3-80mm Fans, HD Fan, Bay Cooler

This bay cooler thing is suppose to turn on/off fans when the temp is at a certain level that you can set. its cool. I am in the works on getting my last parts shipped. One company messed up my order, but only one out of 10. Not bad odds.

I had a pretty bad expercience with Scepter monitors, returned them 4 times before changing for a ViewSonic.
Don't buy it! It is an advice!
