Check signal cable from time to time

So ive been getting the notorious "Check signal cable- digital" for quite a while, but it always sorted itself out eventually, except this time its been over a week, and began shortly after ive upgraded my win10 32bit to 64bit, although everything went fine for a few days after the upgrade.

My rig is pretty old though, will post specs if necessary. Using a VGA cable without adapters.

if anything else is needed, please tell me and ill post it here.

So the screen just goes black at some point and gives you this message? Have you updated your graphics card drivers?

it never happens when the PC is on, like a sudden black screen and check signal cable, only if I turn on the PC. And yes, my drivers are up to date.
