doh. Ok. Here it is

CPU - E5200
CPU fan - XIGMATEK EP-DC901
MOBO - ASROCK P45XE
Memory - GSKILL 4GB RAM
GPU - HD4650
HDD - WD 500 7200 BLACK
Case - ROSEWILL TU-155
Burner - PIONEER 20X cd/dvd

I plan to OC the E5200 a bit and use it mostly for home office and perhaps a touch of gaming.

sounds safe to me, but consider a WD 640 GB:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136298
and what about the PSU, does it come with the case? can't say if its good or not because I really can't tell from this although the case might be a bit cheap - but then this a budget pc. PSU is important though anyway so you should check it out - especially if you plan to overclock
also consider a 4670 or 4830 for not much increase in price (max $10-15)

Can you give us prices and more info such as what type of GSKILL ram are you getting?

What about PSU?

What's this rig for? Gaming, CAD, photo editing...ect.

Take a look at this "build advice link" and try to use this template, it'll help us a great great deal in helping you come up with the best rig for your needs and price range. The problem i have right now is I have more questions than answers for you.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: ASAP BUDGET RANGE: CAD $700 (USD $500-600)
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: web, email/office, photo editing and light video editing, gaming (planning on plating Diablo III when it comes out...but I'll likely need to upgrade by then anyhow)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.ca (might consider .com but it means waiting longer :) )

OVERCLOCKING: Yes SLI OR CROSSFIRE: no

MONITOR RESOLUTION: no real preference

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: GPU is not a real priority right now. Likely no gaming until D3 comes out anyhow. if I could get integrated graphics I would...but still want to OC the processor.

Change the ASRock to a Gigabyte or Asus.

Rosewill is not a psu for anyone nor the case, RC-690/antec 300/centurion 590.

Since your getting a low end gfx card, 400cx corsair psu will do you just fine.

4670 gfx would fit in a u.s. budget along with it.

if you look, i think theres a combo on p45's and the e5200, if not, its the p43 boards and you might need to go to a p43.

notice that gaming is the last priority. I'd rather upgrade the GPU later on when diablo 3 releases....right now the GPU isn't much more than a hook up for my monitor and maybe some older games.

I agree with fullmedal to maybe look at antec 300 and a small antec or crosair psu. It should do the trick for now. (read comments below about psu however).

Depending on budget constraints you might want to get WD 640 Black . Its a bit newier and faster. Plus gives you some extra storage. Your call though.

Do you plan on having this comp run diablo 3 or are you thinking you'll be getting a different pc (if you plan on upgrading this pc how much are you expecting to upgrade - the reason i ask is i want to leave you easy options to upgrade if that's the case)?

If you plan on upgrading this pc putting the money in for a better psu now will allow you to not need to replace it with a higher end psu when you upgrade your graphics card. Another thing is if you plan on just getting a different pc, then i'd suggest getting a motherboard with onboard graphics as well since your needs currently don't expose any use of intense graphics.

A few questions and responses:
Which giga or asus mobo should I look into? Keep in mind overclocking is desired

I would like to play D3 with this machine. Any advice on different components/approaches are appreciated.

Where can I save money on this build? Cheaper GPU? I think we missed something in translation also....my budget needs to include my OS. So $700 is the max for both machine and OS right now. I can upgrade some things later.

Ok in that case then I would just spend more on the case and PSU - find a case you think is cool and chose a good PSU: there should be a list of good PSU manufactures on TOMs, oh wait here is one somewhere else anyways:
http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=18234
- because your other choices should be fine, but PSU and case you can keep for much longer if you want - read this on pc spending and components:

I just added up the amount your current build is and its 691 ca (with OS). So that slides u just under budget. This doesn't really leave u room to change much. I also went to newegg.ca and looked for a MB with onboard graphics and a pcie x 16 and there was only one micro board that is in stock :( and didn't leave you much in the way for upgrades in the future.

So unless we completely revamp your build to an amd build most likely you look to be stuck with that case and horrriiibbbbllllleeeee psu. :( Hopefuly someone will post a good amd build since I'm terrible with good builds on that topic.

So when you do your upgrades for diablo 3 I'd highly recommend not just upgrading your graphics card but your psu as well. That psu is not something I'd even dare allow in a case. It might make a good table peice however? Get the whole technology theme going in the den.

Ok....I decided to up my budget a little bit. I really hate cutting corners. Here's what I ended up with:

1 x ($20.99) CPU COOLING XIGMATEK|EP-CD901 R - Retail $20.99

1 x ($99.99) PSU ANTEC|EA650 RT - Retail $99.99

1 x ($56.99) MEM 2X2G|G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPQ - Retail $56.99

1 x ($86.99) CPU INTEL|PDC E5200 2.5G 2M R - Retail $86.99

1 x ($168.99) MB GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P P45 775 R - Retail $168.99

1 x ($99.99) VGA GIGABYTE GV-R467D3-512I RTL - Retail $99.99

1 x ($22.99) CARD READ NIPPON|ICR-BB R - Retail $22.99

1 x ($24.99) DVD BURN PIONEER|DVR-216DBK 20X % - OEM $24.99

Keep in mind prices are in CND. The hardware, including monitor, was $867. I couldn't find anything for significantly less that didn't have crappy case, PSU or other hardware. Decided I'd be better off over time buying quality. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully no one chimes in now and tells me something sucks :)
