So, my latest PC has gone and died on me out of the blue..requiring me to spend another ton of money purchasing a new one. However this time instead of ordering through the likes of PC Specialist, I'm attempting to build my own from scratch.
I have a pretty good idea of what components are good, and which are not.. but to double check, I'm wanting someone a bit more... technically gifted.. lets say, to make sure I'm getting the best bang for my buck.
(My budget is £1000, prices of components will be added next to name)

Case: InWin 101 midi tower, white - £65
CPU: Intel Core i5 8600k - £220
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6gb - £250
MoBo: GigaByte Z370P D3 - £90
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LP 8gb (2x 4gb) - £90

Thats the main things, then the CPU cooler, case fans, PSU etc..
Total is roughly £950, depending on the prices when you order

Please can someone help give me advice, is this the best Intel build for under £1000? Feel free to suggest changes, except one rule - please no AMD builds.. Ive heard the Ryzen is a great budget processor, but I personally prefer Intel every day of the week

Thanks WildCard, looks like a very nice build.
Only thing i must say though, I would rather spend a little extra on the cpu and limit myself to the 1060 gtx rather than the other way round.. i use my computer for more than gaming so i think id benefit more from the better cpu.
But thank you for the suggestion

Fair enough although if I wanted a better CPU and keep the 1060 6gb I'd go with the 8700 over the 8600K for the extra threads.

That is a pretty perfect build, thank you. I think im going to trust you and go with that.. although change the SSD/Hard drive and case.
Final thing, are the extra threads on the i7 worth losing the 0.8ghz (when the 8600k is overclocked to 4.0)

8700 will turbo boost to 4.2ghz all core, i would consider getting a asrock pro4 b360 instead of a h310m, it has a significantly stronger vrm to accompany the 8700 under high load,

https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3077-explaining-coffee-lake-turbo-8700k-8600k

8600k on stock is actually slower than a 8700, however, 8600k can be oc-ed to 4.7-4.8 Ghz with ease.
