Checksum Error on Extraction and Execution

Around 90% of the compressed files, whether they be .zip or .rar, fail
on extraction saying something along the lines of corrupted files:
checksum error. This happened on 2 separate physical drives using 3
different extraction tools (WinRAR, 7Zip, and the built in Windows
extractor). I restarted several times and tried some other basic
troubleshooting things to no avail. I eventually reinstalled my OS
(Windows 8.1 x64) on my SSD, only to have the same problem happen.
Also, I noticed when trying to install drivers on my fresh install,
several of the driver installers wouldn't open, and gave checksum
errors as well. Do any of you know what could be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

Possibly faulty RAM modules. Test them individually with Memtest86 on a bootable CD. The CD image for the free edition is here: http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
