Cherry Keyboard and PS/2 Compatibility

Hey all,

I currently have a Cherry MX-Board 2.0 keyboard (model number MX 3800 USB).

Does anyone know if this keyboard works in a PS/2 port via a USB to PS/2 converter? I searched on the net about this issue but it came up completely empty... (probably because this keyboard is only sold in Asia), and there are many USB mice/keyboards that do not work in PS/2.

I can't see anything on the keyboard that might suggest it will not work, but I want to check here first if anyone, by chance, would have any experience with it.

Plug in an adapter and try it. Won't do any harm to try.

Thanks, guess I will try that, I had hoped if there was a definitive "No", as that would save me a couple of trips, I don't actually have a USB to PS/2 adapter handy on me, but will see about trying to get my hands on it.

I was hoping to put this still perfectly functional keyboard to proper use in my company, however due to company's very strict IT regulations, I only have access to 1 USB port, and that will most likely be used by my old G400s I have just replaced G502 with, so the KB has to go into PS/2. If the this Cherry keyboard does work with PS2, perfect, if not, I guess it will have to be passed to a family member... pity 😛

Edit, actually, there is one more question:

Does the color of the adapter matter? I know the mobo has green for mouse and purple for KB, but would I definitely need a Purple adapter head?

The PS/2 to USB adapter has both adpaters seprately for mouse and keyboard a.k.a it has both violet and the green adapter

Well at least it doesn't work with the Mouse (green adapter), gonna check with my retail and see if he has any left over purple ones.

If anyone cares, M100r or G400s doesn't work either 😛
