Hi all,
I am having issues with a keyboard I have had for some time, and would like to continue using. I have a Cherry MX 3800, and a small cluster of keys is starting to get... inconsistent. If I press R, T, or to a lesser extent 4, I usually get the proper behaviour; however, about 30% of the time, the key press will not register at all. Other times, it will register twice, but with the second instance delayed. I have confirmed that this is an issue with the keyboard by testing another keyboard on the computer, and confirming this issue with this keyboard on a different computer.
Suppose I try to type alternating SPACE and T characters. what I get is "t t t t t t tt t t tt." Same sort of inconsistent output using R or 4. To be clear, I am 100% certain this is not a human error issue.
Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? I have opened the board, unscrewed and removed the top, removed all the caps blown it out with compressed air, and even opened a couple of the offending key switches to check for physical damage, but they look spotless inside. I have not been able to remove the switches from the board, as they appear to be soldered down? There were never any spills, nor significant physical trauma.
