I want to replace my current keyboard with a mechanical keyboard. I came across the CM QuickFire models and they look pretty good, especially for its price. It is also available in different switch colors.

Now I'm not sure which color to take. I read that the blue one is recommended for typists, the red one is recommended for gamers and the brown one is a middle way of these two. I do game much and I play all sort of genres (especially MMOs, FPS and MOBAs). But I also have to write essays and such.

Originally I wanted to go for the blue switch, the sound it makes is pretty cool in my opinion. But I read it can give you some problems with double tapping, and you double tap pretty often in games. I'm also afraid that the people in the room next to my room can hear me typing when they are asleep. Do any of you have any experience with the double tap problem or how hard the sound really is? Can people in the room next to you hear you type and how is your gaming experience with the blue switches?

You'd say that the brown switches are the best option for me, but those don't make the sound the blue one does. Please share your experience with the color you are using or give me some advice on which color to choose.

it depends on you actually but let me share what i know and my limited experience.

blue, nice tactile feedback, it is has the most noise among the basic 4 switches. so, if you share a room with someone, avoid the blue. i had blue and it wakes up my wife, so as nice as it sounds, a music to you might mean noise to another.
red, no tactile, not too noisy.this is what i have now. for me it is a tad too soft, it's like i put my hanky on top of it and keys were pushed down.

personally i want a brown, best of balance between blue and red, but that is based on research not on personal experience.
