I am wanting to get certified to do computer forensics and I am having trouble deciding what direction I should go within that field. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get certified? Is it worth going to courses or can I self teach and take the test?

So far the CHFI Certificate looks the most interesting to me. I am currently working as an IT Specialist and I think this is the direction I want to go.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If that's what your interested in then the CHFI is certainly the one to go for, however I hear it's very difficult. It really depends on what your specialty is right now, if you are a CEH then you should be fine. If not then further training might be needed...

I do not have a CEH yet. Do you have yours? If so how did you study for the test? I have been looking at the options on the ec-council website but I'm not sure if that is the best option or if there is an alternative option somewhere else as well.

Sorry no, I haven't obtained it. I'm not sure if I even will, however their should be information around for it. My first networking certification might be this year will just be a MTA. I know they even develop books solely for the exams.
