Chieftec Case Front USB and Misc Issues

I recently purchased a chieftec DX-01 case and installed a vantec ION
400W power supply. I then moved my motherboard (EPOX 8K97AI w/512MB
Crucial PC2100 DDR w/XP 2100+), hard drive, soundard (SB Live Value)
and Video Card (Verto FX5200) plus optical drive, etc. to the new
case.

I had some problems getting it to boot but eventually got it to work.
On the first boot I was kicked into the BIOS setup screen with a
message that I had installed a new processor. I hadn't, but I
decided not to argue and setup the BIOS exactly as before ( I record
the settings and any changes I make).

The first time my sound card worked fine but each time thereafer I I
had no sound. Going to device manager I noticed my soundcard was
disabled and had a error code 12 -- not enough resources. Checked
the resources. IRQ sharing is inabled and apparently working.
Nothing I do will allow me to use a card that I had been using
successfully for 7 years now, including 1 year in the current system.

I pulled the card out, installed the native sound system. I then
disabled the native sound system, inserted the card and reinstalled
the drives. Still not working.

Finally, the case comes with a front USB and Firewire port. I don't
have or use firewire but I did connect the header ( a solid block
instead of individual pins). When I plug in my USB devices it
detects them but can't recognize them.

I've searched for answers and can find none. Can anyone point me to
a solution. I would like to upgrade the soundcard to an audigy but
I don't want to do this if it is having problems recognizing cards.

Thanks

Well, I waited a day and put the SB Live Card back ( the native AC'97
sound was driving me bonkers) and it now works as if it had always
been their.

I love it when things get fixed, I just would like to know what
happened or why it's working now when I don't think I did anything.

Ok, now I understand something. Not sure why this is, but there is
apparently a conflict between the ports for the front USB in my case
and the soundblaster soundcard. I'm not sure why this is the case,
but I had my soundcard working finally and then, after checking the
pinouts for the USB connect from the case and my MB to make sure they
were the same, I tried once again to activate the front USB ports. My
soundcard stopped working and I got the code 12 message in the Device
Manager.

I'm posting this just in case some other foo ... er, person runs into
the same problem.
