In a western country if the ruling govenrment loses legitimacy it gets voted out.

In China they just send in 739,000 police.

I shudder at the price of human life if a bloody uprising occurs ...

China has 1.3 billion people. That equals one in every four people on earth. 99.5% of them work at China's largest employer Made in China. So, if you live in a family of four one of you likely works there. Reuters failed to mention this and needs to get their facts straight. Instead Reuters quotes important things like this:

"The warning came on the same day as the opening of China's annual parliament in the capital, where Premier Wen Jiabao warned that inflation could corrode social stability."

My comment to the Reuters. DUUUUUHHHH!

Could you post less information about China's potential to slaughter it's people should they even think about organizing a revolution for democracy. I am copying and pasting the stories for future reference regarding far east and world changing slaughter's. I have a second entry on my expensive hard drive space labeled 'confucius sayings by rey'. I may have to delete my slaughter folder to curb costs.

Most of the Chinese people I know here are either doctors, lawyers, or engineers - I only know one who works in hospitily and she her restaurant.

Just as we suspected while the Arab world is throwing of the shackles of tyrranical leadership and embracing democracy, the chinese are quietly flushing dissidents down the toilet ... since the spotlight is elswhere at present (Libya and Japan).

I guess I'll never get my visa approved to visit china now ...
