News Chinese Memory Maker YMTC Sues Micron for 3D NAND Patents Violation

I have no idea why Micron continues to try to expand their operations in China. Micron sued UMC for infringement back in 2018 - in China. The case flipped and it was ruled that Micron stole from UMC, and Micron was banned from China. The case was essentially retried in the US and UMC admitted to espionage and IP theft.

It's an interesting twist that YMTC is starting the action in a US court.

I got into computers, because I felt I wasn't smart enough for chess...

Now most of IT seems far less about engineering than about playing those games.

But I can see that it's an obvious move to make by YMTC and that other around GPUs, CPUs or just plain everything else will follow.

And I just wish that the Chinese would patent lying to your people and try to have that outlawed in the West.

I'd be more than happy to assign them prior art... especially since I am a German...

I would have assumed that (before I saw the previous comments) YMTC stole from Micron, but now that I know that Micron has been involved in other lawsuits, I'm inclined to believe YMTC.

for YMTC to be brave to sue in US courts then they should have strong arguments, it will be interesting how things unfold.
