im looking to build a machine, i7 9700k, with gtx 1660 6gb. now is 20 lanes b360 chipset enough? or should i go for z370/390 24 lanes? using mainly for video editing. 1080. no video gaming.

the b360 according to Asus can support usb 3.1 v2 10gbps. but z cannot

well, cpu has its own lanes for gpu
chipset lanes are used for storage/network/soundcard, etc
all those chipset lanes (20 or 24) have cumulative total bandwith worth of x4 lanes (8GB/s)
more lanes just means more devices can be connected

Your GPU will take all the CPU lanes (16).
That leaves 20 lanes for all your peripherals. Drives and RAID cards can take up a good chunk of that if you have a lot. Just do some quick math to see if you have enough.
