Chkdsk not allowing me to defrag

Sorry if this is in the wrong place wasn’t for sure.


Ok when I go to defrag my computer I get a prompt telling me "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume:HP_PAVILION (C Please run Chkdsk /f"

When ever I try and run it, it tells me that it cant because of the whole "disk lock" thing and that it will next time I restart my computer. When ever it restarts it restarts as usual and doesn’t run "Chkdsk /f" and I’m back to not being able to defrag my computer.

Assuming your running xp, goto the control panel and look under scheduled tasks. delete the task to run chkdsk. try defrag again.
