[SOLVED] Chkdsk problems on external hard drive

I am currently running a chkdsk on a 2tb external hard drive on windows 10 and it's been stuck on stage 5: looking for bad, free clusters... for the past two days. As of right now, the progress is at 10025047 of 488201470 and the stage/total is at 2%. So what I'm asking is should I let it finish or abort it?

Doesn't make any difference whether you abort or do nothing, taking that long tells me the drive is probably failing and needs replacing. You can check by testing it with SeaTools for Windows:
