Hey!

Windows didn't boot correctly due to a corrupted/ failing drive. I tried startup repair, but that got stuck. I tried to run chkdsk, but it seems it will take an extremely long time. I have left it on for about an hour so far and it has already found a few hundred corrupted files. It is only on 633/ 610304. Is this something I should be worried about and cancel the check or should I leave it running?

Thanks!

I turned off the computer while it was shutting down because the screen went black but the computer wouldn't turn off (I held the power button on the computer for 5 seconds). When I turned it on the next day it had boot issues. I'm thinking it was just that I shut off the computer and not that the actual drive was failing.

Currently chkdsk is still finding several errors Should I cancel it and just reinstall windows?

Ok thanks!

It's taking an extremely long time. It is at 2,000/ 600,000 and I have let it run for about 4 hours now. Is there any way I can get Windows again or at least recover my data (I don't have anything important, just a little bit of a hassle)? At this point I'm thinking this will take upwards 2 days to complete. It isn't my specs either, so I am thinking a lot of things are corrupted in Windows.

Is there any other way or should I just reinstall Windows?

I just got an idea. Would it be possible to make a partition on my drive and install windows onto that. After windows was installed, I downloaded some program that would be able to recover the data from the rest of the hard drive? This is all assuming the hard drive works fine, just has corrupted data on it of course.
