Hi, what would best for overclocking?

Gigabyte B450M S2H
Gigabyte B450M DS3H
Asus TUF B450M-plus II

I am not going for anything extreme, obviously 😀, but I'd like to overclock my Ryzen 7 1700 to 3.8 as I did with my main motherboard (now that one has a more recent processor).

I'll use Crucial Ballistix (8 or 16) and a Corsair CX (possibly M) PSU, one old GPU (a GeForce 660), and one old SSD (Intel first gen). This build will be used for computing, mainly.

Any recommendation for other B450 motherboards is welcome, of course. The ones above have been selected because I've already owned motherboards from those manufacturers in the past, and there some are good deals right now here for them.

They all look to have the same rough VRM design. All three have a heatsink on the primary phases, but the secondary voltages are all bare. As long as you have decent airflow I don't think you will have problems with any of them.

3.8Ghz shouldn't be too hard a target, normal boost will get to that. Most reviews of the times say about 100W at 3.9Ghz 1.38 or so volts under a torture test, so normal use will be well under that.

Go for the DS3H or Asus TUF, the S2H only has two ram slots, with the DS3H or TUF if you want to add more ram in the future you can just add more ram vs replacing your sticks. Both the DS3H and TUF are good boards, and ive built like 30 DS3H machines with very few issues, only 1 that was related to the motherboard. It came DOA out of the box, but it was an openbox and Gigabyte sorthed that one out quickly. A couple of things to keep in mind is it only has two fan headers and I wouldnt recommend heavy overclocking, but they've handled chips from a Ryzen 3 1200 to a Ryzen 7 3700x without any issues, I wouldnt go with a Ryzen 9 on it though.

Hah, i just realized im replying from my work computer that is currently running a DS3H and is running a 3700X.
