Choice on Buying item, need reply pls

With the new release of 775 sockets, PCI Express and DD2, from reviews appear to be a complete waste at its current state. More then anything seems like a market hype. (Much like the first P4's, I was glad to hold out using a P3 733 until the northwood cores came out.)

At the moment, I am somewhat in the middle of a small problem. I've chosen to upgrade a few componants on my computer cause they are slightly old >_<.

Current computer setup......

Raidmax tower / PSU Black case, blue front LED's.
Pentium 4 1.8ghz 400mhz 512k L2
Ass kicking MSI 865PE Neo2 board.
Corsair Twinx Dual Channy 512mb 400mhz
SATA WD 80gig (2 paritions each at 37.2gig)
DVD-RW Optirite (think thats how you spell it ! )
Radeon softmodded 9500 -> 9700 reg clock / mem frequencies.
Sound Blaster X-gamer (like 3 1/2 years old now lol)
Arctic cooling 80mm CPU Cooler (has Blue LEDS ! )
And a side Panel Fan for out take.

Now what I was intending to do was buy a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (which I very well still do)

But right now... AS OF THIS POST, newegg has a One Day Sale, Ends 7/27/2004 4:00 PM PST
Intel Pentium 4/ 2.4A GHz 533MHz FSB, Prescott Core, 1MB L2 Cache - Retail for $119 dollars....very a$$ kicking. But, I would like to get the most bang for my buck, so was thinking of buying a Intel Pentium 4/ 2.8E GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - OEM for $167 .

So....any ideas?

The 2.4a is $109 at some Fry's with motherboard. That's a good value if you need the board anyway. I would get the 2.8c instead of the "e" prescott. It is slightly faster clock for clock, and maybe a little cooler. I have your board, and it will work with prescotts with a bios upgrade.

get the 2.8e, you can o/c it to 3.5 easily plus it has 800fsb and hyperthreading technology!

Ideas? NO! Why the [-peep-] would you want to put a 2.4A in there for $167 when you already have a 2.4B? What, you say you have a 1.8A Northwood? GAH! I've NEVER seen a 1.8A that wouldn't clock at 2.4B speed. Many do it at STOCK VOLTAGE, but a few require 1.65v to get there.

Hey Kanavit! Post a note at the top of the forum describing exactly how you built your machine and all the parts and specs! Make sure you list your temps! Leave it as a Prescott stickie! That is one high Aquamark score. Gamers will be interested!
