Help! After updating Windows 10 it defaults to Choose an Option menu on my laptop. I have an Asus X550Z. There are no restore points available, start-up repair, go back to previous version won't work. What can I try? Anything at this point would be great. Photo links below:

that's a start-up problem. windows is unable to boot properly and is offering you that menu to help fix it. normally start-up repair is the first thing to try from the advanced options. but if that and go back to previous version is not working, you may have to do some more work.

try the command prompt from the advanced options and type in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. this will check the files and see if anything windows related is messed up it can repair.

after that

try booting from an install disk and running repair options from there. start-up repair may work that way and get it working.

if neither of these works, then we can try other options before having to fresh install windows.

is there anything on laptop you need to save?
from the advanced menu, choose command prompt
type notepad and press enter
in notepad, select file>open
Use file explorer to copy any files you need to save to USB or hdd

see if this helps, also from command prompt.

SFC often gives that result if you aren't logged into windows, so USB will probably give same answer.

SFC only help if it identifies files as corrupt, its not so handy if the files there but not pointing at right place. He said he tried startup repair already

If I do boot recreate do I need to back my files up?

No, I just gave you the backup thing so you could access anything you wanted.
