Choosing A GPU

Guys, if i had to ask if the GTX 1080 worth the buck? or I should get the GTX 1070? The resolution i will be playing depends on what gpu i will get. Can you guys explain to me which is worth? and reasons.

Performance wise, the GTX 1080 is roughly a 30% increase over the 1070.

If you want to fully utilize the GTX 1080, your other hardware has to keep up though. What are your current specs?

Both are extremely powerful cards.

8gb 1080 has GDDR5X while the 1070 has GDDR5. Meaning the 1080 has faster memory.

1080 is designed with the future in mind in terms of optimizing for VR and stuff like that.

Both are extraordinary cards and can play just about any game at ultra at the moment.

I have a GTX 980ti which is pretty equivalent to the 1070 than both those cards and I manage to play almost every game 4k at High with ~50fps, so the 1070 should do just as good.

You can't go wrong with either, if you wanna save a couple hundred just go with the 1070.

As far as 4K you definitely need gtx 1080 as i have seen several AAA titles that wont give me a solid 60 fps usually in 45-60 fps zones.

it goes like this;

GTX 1060 6GB: 1080p@60Hz

GTX 1070: 1440p@60Hz/1080p@144Hz

GTX 1080: 4K@60Hz/1440p@120-144Hz/1080p@144Hz

Titan X: 4K@120Hz-144Hz (not really sure)

the upcoming GTX 1080Ti should be having performance between a Titan X and GTX 1080, so it should give 4K@120Hz(still not sure).

Titan X is still only good for 4k@60 nowhere close to 120.

your 980ti is equivalent to a GTX 1070.

Whether a 1080 is worth it to you depends entirely what screen your running.

1080p 100htz+ - 1070
1440p 60htz - 1070
1440p 100htz+ - 1080
Anything above 1440p - 1080
