Hi there,

I want to buy a laptop but i can't decide on the brand mostly. I hope this big community can help me make this decision faster.

I'm also interested on reviews/replies from people who know a little bit more about laptop hardware, laptop brands and how they build those laptops, laptop heating problems etc. For example i have heard that Dell tests all the hardware in a laptop to be compatible. About Acer i don't know too much.

This laptop will replace my desktop computer and i will be using it every day for business. It will be used for : Design (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Programming - Web development. I will be using a 22" monitor for design , but beside that i want the laptop to have a good display for times when i am away, and also for my eyes.

I want the laptop to be as reliable as it can.

In conclusion i have to decide between this two:

i was looking couple weeks ago for one as well and came across this on amazon its used but well worth the money. Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830TG-6450 . It has a video card and everything else you need. I also added a mushkin chronos 120 gb ssd for 130 and 8 gigs if vengeance ram 1600mhz for 40 dollars to it. Just doing this made it wake up to be a beast for only 600. it now boots up into windows from being off in only 11 secounds. The screen is very crisp and well colored with all this and only 4 pounds. Also the fan on this is silent i have never even heard the fan go onto full blast. The only way i got it to go full blast was when i over clocked the gpu a lot and was playing BF3 and mine craft with out anything under the laptop to lift it up. Even then the gpu was at 62c only and wasnt struggling the least bit. The battery life is insane on this on power saver mode this lasts for 9 hours which is crazy. balanced about 6 hours rigt now i havent had a power cable in on power saver mode since i started work at 6am its now 9:06 it say 65 percent left 5 45 mins to go. The fan at full blast sounds like many laptops and very low its still very hard to hear it and as this being a work laptop it fits perfectly. My old hp that went sounded like a turbine 24/7 and was giving me a headache. This laptop in the end should recieve 5 out of 5 starts.

A friend of mine had a bad experience with asus. The hdd broken and he could not recover all of his files, also the laptop was heating very quickly and some motherboard problems. This is why i didn't consider it ! Thanks for your answer!
