Choosing a monitor which is better?

I would go with the LG because it has the best dynamic contrast ratio which is how real the blacks and whites look over a long period of use. Second, it is 23", the bigger the better right? The LG is also the second cheapest monitor, but I haven't seen too many people with viewsonic monitors. So I also think, maybe sorta biased, LG has a better established name and probably makes better monitors. Fourth, I think the LG looks the coolest.

In that photo I do not see the red light but most monitors have a red light (or a similar color) when they are in standby mode. If that seriously bugs you you could probably turn the monitor off when you are not using and that should (hopefully) turn the light off. Would that bug you or are you thinking it is going to run your electricity bill up?
 
i mean the glass/plastic thing at the bottom of the screen under the lg logo. i am wondering when i turn on the monitor will the whole thing light up red u_u.

 
also the product is discontinued from LG. so i wonder if theres any problem with it.


ps can you recommend me one or two monitor from ebuyer?
 

Well, what is your price range? After we decide that we begin to work from there.

There probably isn't a problem with the monitor, it is probably that it is an older model, and so LG discontinued it.
 

Ok, well I found this samsung that is 22", 1080p, 50,000:1 contrast ratio, and 2ms for £154.02: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164043

The LG that you listed is fairly decent too, and they have the same specs (50,000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms, etc.). Even though it is discontinued it does not mean that it isn't a quality product. The only real big difference between the two monitors are that the LG is one inch bigger and the fact that the LG stand tilts.

So, personally I would go with the LG because it is one inch bigger and with that much more screen real estate you can have more room to see all of your games that really cool. Also the fact that the LG tilts could be good, I don't know if you will use it to tilt it or not, but the option is there if you need it. The LG also looks cooler than the Samsung. The red bar probably is lit up, but I am not sure. If it doesn't you could probably get a red cold cathode and mount it (maybe with tape, but don't nail it in) underneath to give the monitor the red radiance (don't know if that will work, but it might).

There is only a £1 difference, so pick the one you like. The choice is yours.

If you can be a bit patient wait for new monitors to come out this quarter... I'm waiting myself on the new V series from BenQ, they are really really thin and awesomely designed LED backlit Full HD monitors. They seem to carry the standard 24"/22" specs (5ms, Dvi/d-sub/hdmi, 1080p, etc). The LED backlighting and the thinness of the monitors make it really attractive though.
