Discussion Choosing a TV

Seems so out of place posting in this section as its full of threads about monitors, but a TV is a display too right?

I found a bunch of TVs on sale and can’t really decide which one to buy. I have narrowed my choices down to two. Samsung TU8000 or Sony X800H.

They seem to be equally... ok? Not so good, not the worst. I couldn’t compare them personally, so I’m just judging based on the comparison in rtings.

Anybody had first hand experience with one of these? If anyone could provide pros and cons, I would really appreciate it.

edit: Derp I didn't check your link. You've already found the source for TV ratings.

Personally, I'd go with the samsung as I'm more of a movie buff.

Rtings does very in depth review and scoring. Read through each review and let that guide your decision based on what you do most.

Im buying it just for mixed usage. Whats making it hard to choose is I couldn’t see it with my own eyes...

Ok, in case nobody has either the sony or the samsung.

-The sony has, according to rtings very bad blacks, isn’t very good in dark rooms.

-The samsung has bad viewing angles.

The room I'm placing the tv is quite dark, and the TV will be placed at quite an angle.

So, which one would anybody sacrifice?
Black level or viewing angle?
