Choosing AMD or Intel build... how to choose?

Hi there!
I`m almost finished with my build, and I`ve found that Intel i7-2600k was very good, because even if I like to game (I`want to play Mass Effect 3), I`m mostly use my pc to do work, and to edit video as a hobbie.

Now, I`ve checked out the AMD APU 8 and read that`s kinda equal to intel i7 2600k but cheaper... and I`m a little lost. This is my first build... what do you reccomend? I`ve read about the AMD FX8120 too.

If I change the intel processor, I have to change the mother. I`ve planned to buy the Asus P8Z68, but now... I just don`t know. I thought in replacing it for a ASUS M5A99X Evo (AM3+).

What do you think?

Thanks!!

You completely missed where he mentioned this build is mostly to do work and video editing. The i7 hyperthreading will do him well in that category.

Thanks guys!
That Asus mother is a little cheaper than the Asrock Extreme 4. Are there much difference between those two?

So, if the price is more or less the same I think I should stick with my original mobo.

Thank you very much! You are really helping me out with my first build!!

BTW, I`m a girl, not a guy :)

Thanks!!

Can you link me to the Asus board you picked, thanks. The Asrock recommend above is a great choice but if the Asus board you picked suits your needs theirs no point in changing.

Sorry about that. Not many girls on these forums.

Thank you! This is the first time that I attempt to actually do a geeky stuff and go and build my very own rig, so your help is very much appreciated!
I originally thought on the Asus p8z68 deluxe gen3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131791) with the Intel i7-2600k (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070).

But now, I read about the AMD a8 3850 processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103942) and now I{m a little lost about what is going to be the most convenient thing to do: Should I stick with the intel configuration or the AMD one?

Thanks for your insight!!

There's always a first time for everything. Your choice of motherboard is excellent and definitely stick with the Intel. This time around AMD's processors are garbage and no one realy recommends them. I rather recommend an i3 over AMD as of right now. For GPU I definitely recommend Radeon though. Nvidia is falling behind until Kepler comes out maybe they'll cook something up.

Thank you!!!!
I´m sticking with the intel i7-2600k then... great, so I don´t have to go and choose another mother :)

About the video cards, I was thinking in GTX 570, but now I´ve read that for the same price, or maybe a little cheaper, I can get an ATI Radeon 6970 that has very good performance.

I´ve read that the Bus is very important in video cards, and the GTX has a bigger one than the Radeon... is that correct? I mean, is the Bus that much important?

Thanks again guys!!!

Don't get the Radeon 6970 next week Monday supposedly the Radeon 7870 comes out and it performs better than the gtx 570 and in some cases better than the gtx 580 and for the $350 price tag it's a must have!
